Joanna Minchinton | General Manager Workplace Services

Joanna joined the Business Chamber Queensland team in October 2022.

Joanna is a recognised workplace relations expert, having been awarded life membership of both the:

  • Industrial Relations Society of Queensland; and
  • Australian Labour and Employment Relations Association

in recognition of her service to the field.

In her role with Business Chamber Queensland, Joanna provides employers with practical, real-world advice and assistance on a wide range of matters relevant to the workplace. In addition to managing the workplace relations function, Joanna also works with stakeholders to provide positive workplace solutions, such as Workforce Evolve, a Queensland government funded program to assist employers with their recruitment and retention practices.

An experienced industrial advocate in jurisdictions including the Fair Work Commission, the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, and the Queensland Human Rights Commission, Joanna is also an experienced trainer having delivered educational programs on a range of employment relations topics for members and external organisations including sessions delivered in Istanbul and Beijing. Joanna is also a regular guest lecturer to third year business students at Griffith University.  

Prior to joining Business Chamber Queensland, Joanna was the Employment Relations Manager with the Queensland Hotels Association. Other associations Joanna has worked with include the Australian Medical Association, both in the Brisbane branch office and Sydney branch office, and with the registered industrial union, ASMOFQ.   

Joanna commenced her industrial relations career with Business Chamber Queensland (then known as QCCI) as a graduate Industrial Relations Officer. Returning to Business Chamber Queensland has been an exciting ‘back to the future’ moment for Joanna that offers great potential. 

Ezra Pyers | Manager, Workplace Relations

Ezra is an experienced Workplace Relations and Human Resources Advisor across multiple industries including hospitality, fuel retail, government and not-for-profit.

Prior to joining Business Chamber Queensland, Ezra was the Employment Relations Manager with the Queensland Trucking Association, the peak employer association for the Queensland road transport sector. In this role, he also supported Queensland businesses in the bus and waste sectors, advocating for members at both state and national levels.

Ezra has significant experience representing employers before the Fair Work Commission and Queensland Human Rights Commission, successfully managing disputes start-to-finish. He also has experience managing claims before the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, Fair Work Ombudsman and advocating member interests to Queensland state parliament. Ezra has spoken on several panels and conducted training across the nation, sharing lived-in industry experiences and practical solutions.

Ezra‘s expertise includes award interpretation and advice, performance management and training. He demonstrates a commitment to collaborative relationships that lever the breadth of his experience to reach successful and sustainable outcomes for members.

Ezra holds a Bachelors in Behaviour Sciences in Psychology and Masters in Human Resources Management. Ezra is a member of the Industrial Relations Society of Queensland.

Lorna Reid | Workplace Relations Consultant

Lorna has honed her workplace relations expertise through a dynamic career journey. From running a National Human Resources and Payroll department for a technology company, to mentoring, and consulting with senior leaders, Lorna’s commitment to professional growth and her broad experience of the employment lifecycle makes her a valuable asset to any business requiring assistance with any employment related matters.

She has experience developing in-house training / education programs, performance management procedures, recruitment, and onboarding. She has also worked with a leading HR/IR consulting practice, that has equipped her with a passion for compliance and an understanding of employment laws and regulations. Lorna also has experience analysing Modern Award and EA compliance, as well as payroll investigations.

In her role with Business Chamber Queensland, Lorna is eager to empower Queensland businesses and ensure compliance while fostering growth and success. Her knowledge of the employment lifecycle, coupled with her hands-on experience, positions her as a reliable consultant who can guide your business through many HR and ER challenges.

Lorna holds a Bachelor of Business, a Graduate Cert. in Employee Relations, and is currently completing her Masters of Human Resources and Employee Relations at Griffith University.

Chloe Boike | Workplace Relations Advisor

Chloe joined Business Chamber Queensland in early April 2023 in the position of Workplace Relations Advisor.

Before joining the Workplace Advisory Services team, Chloe worked at the Ipswich City Council as a Workplace Relations Officer. Chloe has a good deal of experience in writing and reviewing company policies and procedures as well as negotiating and implementing Enterprise Bargaining Agreements.

Chloe is in the process of completing her final subjects to attain a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Business Management (majoring in Human Resources) at the University of Queensland.

Thanks to her studies, Chloe is quite practised in finding relevant research and understanding case law.

Chloe is a member of the Industrial Relations Society of Queensland.

Madaleine Ziegler | Workplace Relations Advisor

Madaleine Ziegler joined the Workplace Services team in April in the part-time position of Workplace Relations Advisor.

Maddie is in her final year of university, completing a Bachelor of Business with a dual major in Employment Relations and Management. Through focused application to her studies, Maddie received the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Prior to joining Business Chamber Queensland, Maddie was a Workplace Relations Advisor at Health Industry Employment Services.

She has experience drafting employment contracts, salaried arrangements, and external policies and procedures. Maddie prides herself on being an effective verbal and written communicator who is able to provide detailed, accurate, and timely advice on a range of workplace matters.

Karen Marsden OAM | Workforce Evolve Project Manager

Karen brings with her over 20 years of experience in project, asset, training and change management, and logistics.  She has worked across several industries including property development, information technology, and government.

Karen is best known for her tenacity and enthusiasm for getting the job done with gratitude, humility, and humour.  She is passionate about translating the Workforce Evolve project vision and objectives into reality offering a tangible outcome to support business in Queensland.

In 1997 Karen was awarded an OAM for her service to sport; she was a key part of the Gold Medal winning Hockeyroos team at the 1996 Summer Olympics.

Isabella Crombie-Tait | Workforce Coach

Isabella has joined Business Chamber Queensland as a Workforce Coach for the Workforce Evolve program. Isabella holds Bachelor in Business Management (Human Resources) and Arts (Ancient History) from the University of Queensland, and a Graduate Certificate in Employment Relations from Griffith University.

In her most recent role, Isabella was an Employment Relations Advisor with the peak industry body for the hospitality industry, the Queensland Hotels Association (QHA). In this role she provided timely and practical advice on employment entitlements and obligations to support hoteliers and publicans across Queensland. Her role also saw her deliver training in person and online and develop resources to further support members with employment relations issues. Prior to this, Isabella delivered the Everything ER training program for the QHA, a Government-funded Employment Relations education program for Queensland hospitality employers.

Isabella brings an understanding of the practicalities of managing staff due to her experience in generalist Human Resources across multiple industries and HR projects. As a Workforce Coach, Isabella will support employers to better understand their obligations within the employment relationship and assist them to create positive and sustainable workplace practices.

Kathy Nadenic | Workforce Coach

Kathy is a people and culture professional with a focus on providing a positive experience for candidates, employees and hiring managers throughout the employee lifecycle.

Kathy has 25+ years of experience spanning both operational and strategic roles within a range of industry sectors - accounting, education, and information technology - working within government, SMEs to large complex decentralised private enterprises.

Her end-to-end generalist HR experience is complemented with experience in coaching stakeholders at all levels, talent attraction / recruitment, developing Employee Value Propositions (EVP), workforce planning, contract management, performance, and learning & development.

She holds Bachelor of Business in Human Resources (distinction) and Bachelor of Applied Science, both from QUT.
